Active Travel Coupar Angus

Active travel is all about choosing a physical mode of transport, like walking or cycling, and leaving the car at home. There are many benefits of active travel both to the environment and to our health and well-being. We want to share these benefits with the people of Coupar Angus.

We are part of a global movement in which Scotland and the UK are very much involved. The Scottish government doubled its investment in active travel for 2018-19 from £39.2m to £80m! This is a strong statement of the direction we are going as a nation and we want to see Coupar Angus leading the way.

SCOTLANDS ACTIVE TRAVEL BUDGET DOUBLED TO £80 MILLION

Active Travel Coupar Angus is a Forward Coupar Angus project which is being run this year thanks to funding from Paths for All. We recently appointed Iain Broadhead as our new Active Travel Coordinator to help support the development of Coupar Angus as an active travel community.

Active travel is a choice that should be available to people of all ages and abilities so we will work to support everyone in the community. You don't have to be a cyclist to get started so come and chat to us at the Hub.

Whats happening?

Throughout the year we will be running events and workshops to promote and encourage active travel.

Keep an eye out for:

  • Bike mechanic workshops
  • Free E-bike hire
  • Cycling events
  • Active travel challenges
  • Pop up hubs
