After a highly successful 2017 event The Cateran Sportive, an exciting road cycling challenge brought to you by the Coupar Angus Cycling Hub returns on the 18th of August 2018.

Cateran Sportive Event – 80 miles / 40 miles

This event has it all, challenging and very scenic routes mostly on quiet country roads and short spells on three A roads. The 80 mile route winds its way over 1390 metres in height in and around the Cateran Trail hence the name of this cycling event in East Perthshire (Climbing the height of Ben Nevis and a bit more)

Both events start and finish in the county town of Coupar Angus and is a fairly easy ride to Kirriemuir before it heads north to Persie and then turns west to Kirkton of Glenisla. This section is quite hilly and undulating but the scenery is terrific. From Glenisla you head west towards the A93 and then the village of Kirkmichael before heading east to Bridge of Cally, Alyth and back to Coupar Angus.

The 40 mile supporting event is obviously less challenging and will suit cyclists who want to further their weekly cycles and set their own challenge. The route heads east to Meigle before turning north to Alyth, Kirkton of Glenisla, Brewlands Bridge and then back souththrough Kilry,  Alyth and returning to Coupar Angus

The event will be fully Marshalled, signed, timed for those that want it, with food and water stations on course.

Start/finish location : Larghan Victory Park, Coupar Angus, PH13 9ES

Parking :Additional carparking will be signed and marshalle don the day if required

40 Mile Start : 9am – 9.30am

Finish : We want everyone to enjoy themselves and for no one to feel under pressure to finish at a set time but we aim to have everyone finished and back to Larghan Park by no later than 5pm, there will be a back up car and ability to pick up anyone really struggling.

Food and Water Stations : There is one main station marked on the map but we are adding an extra station to the 80 Mile route just to be sure everyone makes it around ok and has plenty of food to keep them going for the entire route. Food stations will include a mixture of sweet and savoury snacks and bites to keep you going. We would always recommend to take an extra energy bar or two with you just like any bike ride)
