The Cateran Sportive, a new and exciting road cycling challenge brought to you by the Coupar Angus Cycling Hub on the 19th of August.
Cateran Sportive Event – 80 miles / 40 miles
This event is both challenging and very scenic. It is mostly on quiet country roads and short spells on three A roads. The route winds its way over 1900 metres in height in and around the Cateran Trail hence the name of this new cycling event in East Perthshire.
Both events start and finish in the county town of Coupar Angus and is a fairly easy ride to Kirriemuir before it heads north to Persie and then turns west to Kirkton of Glenisla. This section is quite hilly and undulating but the scenery is terrific. From Glenisla you head west towards the A93 and then the village of Kirkmichael before heading east to Bridge of Cally, Alyth and back to Coupar Angus.
The 40 mile supporting event is obviously less challenging and will suit cyclists who want to further their weekly cycles and set their own challenge. The route heads east to Meigle before turning north to Alyth, Kirkton of Glenisla, Brewlands Bridge and then back souththrough Kilry, Alyth and returning to Coupar Angus
The event will be fully Marshalled, signed, timed for those that want it, with food and water stations on course.
